Cultural Landscape of Bali Province: the Subak System as a Manifestation of the Tri Hita Karana Philosophy. The Subak components are the forests that protect the water supply, terraced paddy landscape, rice fields connected by a system of canals, tunnels and weirs, villages, and temples of varying size and importance that mark either the source of water or its passage through the temple on its way downhill to irrigate subak land.
We are going to introduce you about the sites and systems of Subak in Bali which has universal message to the people about balance life.

Ulun Danu Batur Temple built in 1926, is the second most important temple complex of Bali, after the mother temple Besakih. The temple is dedicated to Dewi Batari Ulun Danu, goddess of lakes and rivers. Ulun Danu literally translates as head of the lake, until 1926 Ulun Danu Batur Temple and the village of Batur were located down in the caldera, at the foot of the Batur volcano. After the volcano erupted violently in 1926, both the village and the temple were destroyed except for the most important shrine, an 11-tiered meru dedicated to Dewi Batari Ulun Danu. The villagers moved to the highest and oldest rim of the caldera where they rebuilt their village and the temple.

Actually the Ulun Danu Batur Temple is a complex of nine different temples, containing in total 285 shrines and pavilions dedicated to the gods and goddesses of water, agriculture, holy springs, art, crafts, etc.  The temple complex also contains an original gong gede which is only played during the 11-day odalan (commemorating the foundation of the temple), when it accompanies the holy baris dance and the secular rejang dance, which is performed by women. The odalan of Pura Ulun Danu Batur takes place each Purnama of Sasih Kedasa, the 10th full moon according to the Balinese Çaka moon calendar. This day usually falls in the month of March but sometimes in April.

“Memorable experience with Bali with the wonderful man Yogi”
My first out of the country experience happened recently, April 11-18 and that was in Bali. Bali is indeed a beautiful place that everyone would love to visit. People are very nice. Staying in Bali became more exciting and enjoyable because of Yogi, who treated us not as a tourist but as his friends. We learned to fall in love with Bali because of Yogi. He is an asset to the office that he is working for. He is a good and wonderful person. If you want to have a memorable experience with Bali, then you need to call Yogi…
